Have you ever felt helpless?
Well, our good ole pet, Xena, has felt helpless on numerous occasions.
Here’s a photo of one such time:
How she got herself in that predicament is quite another story for yet another time. Maybe Rascal and Jake had something to do with it ???? Yep, dats what I’m thinkin 🙂
Anyway, let’s get back to the heart of dis lil msg:
I’m sure most of us have been in some situations where we were desperate for God’s help and have cried out to Him on numerous occasions.
Maybe it was a silent, yet very desperate and earnest cry within your own soul, saying, “Would somebody please help me”?
Or maybe you just broke down before God and wept, as I have many times, saying, “I need Your help, God. Please help me.”
And such is the history of God’s people. Psalm 107 is an amazing chapter recording such stories. This one chapter records four different case studies. Three of the four groups strayed from God and began to suffer the consequences of their own choices, and the other group were simply about their business and ended up being swept into a storm that put them at their wits end.
Regardless the cause of their distressful situation, each group CRIED OUT to God- sending Him their earnest plea for help. In each case, God responded to their cry. Here’s how one case was written (vs. 10-15)
“Those who sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, bound in affliction and irons— Because they rebelled against the words of God, and despised the counsel of the Most High. Therefore He brought down their heart with labor; they fell down, and there was none to help.
THEN they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces.
Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!
That one word THEN made all the difference in their deplorable situation. WHEN they decided to CRY OUT TO GOD- to the ONLY ONE who could deliver them, help them, and bring them out, THEN God began to move in with His tender mercies and SAVED THEM FROM and BROUGHT THEM OUT of the darkness they were in.
You see, WHEN we CRY OUT TO GOD. THEN He answers. It’s a benefit every genuine child of God has.
The Psalm ends with this declaration:
“Whoever is wise will observe these things, and they will understand the loving kindness of the LORD.”
Old Xena was rescued. 🙂 And how much more will God rescue His own who cry out to Him.
